Mary is ready for the Fair

Mary is framed and ready for the County Fair (Vanderburgh County, Indiana) next week. I had so much fun stitching her and adding my own family's initials -- they are color coded by family.
My Parents and In-laws, my own four children and their spouses and their children -- each is stitched in a different color (one per family) so I will know who belongs to who when there are duplications. -- ie my eldest son and his family are all in blue, son #2 and wife and offspring are green, dd and her brood are in yellow and my youngest and his are in rust.

In addition, if the person(s) are deceased, their initials are stitched in black. I put the date in the lower right hand corner as well.

  1. She is so beautiful! It makes me hopeful to get mine finished. I also love the idea of the substitution of family initials and making them color-coded by family. Great job!

  5. Well....Mary didn't do so well at the fair. It seems that a couple of tails were showing through the fabric (which, in my defense, is less dense than most of the fabric I stitch on), and Poor Mary didn't place at all. All was not lost as I did win two blue ribbons on other pieces I exhibited.

  6. Oh no Edy, so sorry that Mary didn't place! She deserved it but now you have a wonderful show piece in your home. Congrats!
