I noticed asymmetry in a motif in part one. The circled two lines only have 5 stitches, while all other lines have 6. Is this motif supposed to be asymmetric or it is a typo?
Mary seems to have made a lot of errors! I didn't even notice this one and must have corrected it as I went. I am not doing this as a replica so I am correcting the errors. See my blog http://speedystitcher.blogspot.com for more info and to join in the debate.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts. I decided to correct it.

I read your post on the first motif. It was very helpful. I am going to correct the asymmetry here as well (not sure if I followed exactly what you have posted, though). Thank you!
I have a photo of the original in the Ackworth Engagement book. Actually the cover is Mary. It looks to me like it might be a charting error. While my vision is not the greatest, it looks like six stitches to me. I usually stitch errors but in this case I think I will correct.
Welcome to the Mary Wigham USA Stitch-Along Blog. I hope everyone enjoys working on their own Mary while seeing everyone else's progress! It's inspirational to see all the different color combinations being stitched! If there are any questions, please contact Valerie, Group Moderator, via email at fcdweller@yahoo.com
Materials List
To be as all inclusive as possible we are suggesting 32 count Permin Lambswool stitched over 2 threads and you will need 24" x 24" or 60cm x 60 cm of linen. (The design area will be approximately 20" x 20" - 50cm x 50cm.) If you are able to stitch smaller, then please do. Mary's sampler is approximately 13" by 12.5" - 33cm x 31.5cm. The stitch count is approximately 300 stitches by 290.
Floss colors: Mary Wigham SAL - DMC Threads Here are the DMC thread shades for Mary Wigham but feel free to convert them to whatever threads you prefer. You will need 1 skein each of: 225, 352, 356, 407, 433, 435, 519, 725, 739, 746, 927, 930, 934, 963, 966, 3052,3768, 3822, 3855, 3857, ecru, white, black. There is no 560.
Obviously, we are all open to chose what ever fabric color/count we would like to use. Same goes for flosses. It was just suggested by a member that this be posted for easy access for everyone. Also, the main blog page is: http://needleprint.blogspot.com/ On this page, you will see the flags of different countries on the right hand side. Click on them & you will be taken to the Head Girls blog where you can see other countries work!
I know Jacqueline said it wasn't perfect - that Mary had made mistakes. I went ahead and corrected it.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure if it was supposed to be that way or an error. I wondered what everybody else did....Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even notice the mistake. I corrected it without even thinking about it! :)
ReplyDeleteI decided to stitch that motif as it was charted.

I stitched this as charted; its that why it's called a reproduction....
